Arsenal

Mikel Arteta's side thrashed Sporting 5-1 away in the last round. As a result, Arsenal secured their third win in four recent Champions League matches and achieved their largest away victory in this competition since 2003. Additionally, the team conceded only their second goal in the group stage, ranking behind only four clubs in this regard. The English side has ten points and sits seventh in the standings.

Defenders Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Riccardo Calafiori, and Ben White will miss out due to injuries. The participation of defender Gabriel Magalhães is also in doubt.

  • The team has won in regular time in 6 of their last 7 home matches in the Champions League.
  • The club has not conceded in 90 minutes in 6 of their last 7 home matches in this competition.
  • No more than two goals have been scored in 90 minutes in 8 of Arsenal's last 10 Champions League matches.

Monaco

Adi Hütter's side suffered a 2-3 home defeat to Benfica in the last round. As a result, Monaco ended their seven-match unbeaten run in regular time in the Champions League (3 wins, 4 draws). Furthermore, the team conceded more than two goals in 90 minutes for the first time in 13 previous matches in this competition. The club is eighth in the standings with ten points. Notably, with 12 goals scored in the group stage, the French side ranks behind only three teams.

Midfielder Krépin Diatta and forward Folarin Balogun will miss the game due to injuries. Defenders Wilfried Singo and Christian Mavissa Elebi are suspended.

  • The club has not won in regular time in 10 of their last 12 away matches in the Champions League (6 draws, 4 losses).
  • The team scored in 90 minutes in 6 of their last 7 away matches in this competition.
  • The number "2" appeared in the scoreline at the end of regular time in 5 of Monaco's last 6 away matches in the Champions League.

Arsenal vs. Monaco: Match Prediction

At home, the Londoners prefer to play from a position of strength and spend a lot of time on the attack. The team rarely struggles with scoring: in their last 11 home matches in the Champions League, Arsenal players have found the net, scoring at least twice on eight occasions. Additionally, the English side has not left the field without scoring in their previous six home encounters with French clubs in this competition.

Monaco is also not accustomed to sitting back and actively shows their attacking prowess even away from home. In the last 14 away matches in the Champions League, the team failed to score in regular time only twice, and in half of those matches, the Monegasques scored at least two goals. However, in 21 of their last 23 away matches in this competition, the French club conceded in 90 minutes.

I expect a high-scoring game from both opponents, so my prediction: Both teams to score – yes

Betting tips 11 Dec 2024

Arsenal's impressive attacking form consistently allows them to create opportunities both in open play and from free kicks and corners. Against AS Monaco, they have a strong chance of victory—they are keen to remain in the top eight of the group stage, especially as AS Monaco often falter defensively.

Following the November international break, Arsenal secured four consecutive victories with an aggregate score of 15:3. In Lisbon against Sporting CP (5:1), they played aggressively in the opponent's half, creating a significant advantage (3.89 xG and nine shots on target). At Fulham (1:1), Arsenal were also more threatening up front (1.93–0.14 in xG) but allowed Fulham a scoring chance at their goal.

In the past month, four of AS Monaco's five matches in the UCL and Ligue 1 resulted in a total over 2.5. At home against Benfica (2:3), Monaco frequently permitted their opponents to attack, and a tense finish led to the sending off of defender Wilfried Singo (another defender, Christian Mawissa, will also miss the next match due to suspension). Notably, in the top 15, only Atlético Madrid have conceded more goals than AS Monaco (7 vs 9), so they are likely to continue making errors at the Emirates.

In 10 home fixtures this campaign, Arsenal have won eight times. There's no need to risk and bet on a handicap for the London side, especially as Monaco are effective on counter-attacks. It's wiser to bet on a total over, as both teams will provide an exciting goal-fest.
